1) The pillars, with base coat and ready for Faux Bois to be painted on.

2) We cut the pillar bases down from square to octagonal, to reduce toe stubbing.

4) The predominant wood tone mimics our Teak furniture, and the chevrons are a darker burl pattern.

5) The dark tone here is somewhat oak-ey, and the light base tries less successfully to mimic the kitchen cabinets.

The painted perspective matches the actual interior size, and notice how nicely the real door handle is blended into the painted handrail.

10) The ladies evening glove and rose on the floor add a note of mystery. The curve of the painted decoration above the door echoes the physical arches on either side.

11) What got added here is the diagonal trim board between the wall and the steps.
